Delta United Church is a congregation made up of people from several smaller communities which slowly declined in population and eventually closed their local churches some forty years ago. The communities were Harlem, Chantry and Soperton. Delta United is currently a two-point charge, sharing ministerial duties with St. Andrew's in Toledo.

In Delta there is a Baptist Church, with whom Delta United will share ecumenical services. The Deltones Community Choir which has many singers from the community and immediate neighbourhood and is an excellent example of ecumenicism. The Deltones perform a Christmas concert/pageant, usually in the last week in November, as part of the larger organization called Delta County Christmas.

Our Community Programs

The Delta United hall is the centre for the Beverley Senior Citizens, the Delta Food Bank, as well as The Good Food Box program for the community. Christmas hampers are packed and delivered every Christmas for those in need. The hall is also used by Br 207 Legion who meet there during the winter months.

Our Monday Morning Coffee has been a great outreach to our community as people old and new to the community come together to join in a cuppa, a Willard's donut donated by Carl. The conversation can be of any topic and some are even insightful. Many new to community have found it a great place to meet their neighbours. There is no charge to come. It is held on Monday mornings from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Saturday morning McDelta Breakfast has been popular in the community as well. For $5.00 you will get Egg, Bacon and Cheese on an English Muffin, Home-fries and all the Coffee/Tea you can drink.

Four times a year we host a Children's Family Event that includes a meal and fun for the kids. Parents and/or grandparents can come and bring their children for a pay-what-you-can- meal and then the kids are given gifts and crafts and even singing in the sanctuary. You can come for the meal even if you don't have and children to bring.

United Church Women (UCW)

The United Church Women (UCW) also meets in the church hall the third Wednesday of the month at 11 a.m. that includes a meal. The Delta UCW supports the United Church Mission and Service Fund and helps with the upkeep of the church. Their Prayer Shawl Ministry, with shawls being knitted or crocheted by the ladies, provides comfort for those who are ill, bereaved or shut-in. The UCW also gives donations to the Delta Food Bank, Dental Issues Group and supports the breakfast club at our local South Crosby Public School and also Kick-in for Kids at Rideau District High School.

The Delta United Church works in partnership with other organizations in the community. For example we serve meals to support the Celebrating the Season event with Lower Beverley Lake Park, we cater to funeral luncheons or special occasions, and on occasion we partner with the Delta Agricultural Society and the Delta Mill Society. We collect food for the Delta Food Bank as well as give to other local organizations like the Arms of Jesus and the Kingston Street Mission.

"Church" is not just a building, it is a community where people come together to worship, pray, give thanks and enjoy the fun, love, support and fellowship of being with each other. At Delta United we do a great job of being "Church" and for that we are truly grateful and pray that we will continue to play an active role in our community for many years to come.
